I can say that J.C.Higgins was the name used to signify Sears & Roebuck firearms from 1942-1962.I would assume that your double barrel shotgun was made during this time span.
J.C. Higgins, I think.
The JC Higgins Model 100 was made by AYA (Aguirre Y Aranzabal) of Spain and is very similar to their standard Matador but without the fancy engraving in order to keep the price down. They are excellent double barrel shotguns and in my mind one of the best double Sears ever sold. They sell at Gun Shows when they can be found for 350 to 550 dollar in very good to excellent condition. Hope this helps, Carsnguns

Pioneer Arms double barrel shotguns were made by Crescent Fire Arms Company of Norwich, Conn, sometime between 1892 and about 1940. Crescent made thousands of these shotguns with many different brand names for individual hardware stores to sell. Pioneer Arms were made for the Kruse and Baklmann Hardware Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio. If there are foreigh proof marks on the gun then it was probably made in Russia.
