Unfortunately, Colt leaves much to be desired by collectors regarding serial numbers and dates of manufacture. If you are extremely lucky, you can find this information with a minimal amount of research.
My latest purchase of the book "Blue Book Pocket Guide for Colt Dates of Manufacture", left me just as bewildered as far as AR-15A2, and later models, as I was before buying it.
But, from that book, it would appear as though your pistol was made in 1954. This would be the Woodsman 2nd Series Sport Model with the serial number in 1954 beginning with 137650-s and ending with 141899-s. The serial number for this model should be located on the front grip strap, below the trigger guard.
It would also appear that the Woodsman Second Series Target Model, shares the same serial number ranges with the difference being the name of the pistol.
Good Luck!
