I am only guessing that the recently inherited 12 gauge, single shot shot gun with a serial number of 34416 XF was made in the mid 1920's. Cannot find a model number but name Western Field is in a rather larger d decorative font. Any help in finding a model number and year built would be appreciated.
The Western Field model 550C was manufactured by Mossberg for Montgomery Wards.

Mossberg produced a variety of firearms under different brand names, including the Western Field line, which was sold through Montgomery Ward stores. It is the same as the Kessler 128 manufactured between 1951-1953.
The Wards Western Field 04M 215A 20GA shotgun was produced in the early 1950s. Specifically, it was manufactured between 1953 and 1959. This shotgun was sold by Montgomery Ward and was made by the Stevens division of Savage Arms.
I would guess it was made by Stevens.
