A Marlin model 81 DL is the same rifle. You can put the same stock on your J.C. Higgins. Now to find a stock for a model 81. Try gunbroker.com or perhaps Numrich gun parts.
Gun Parts Corp has correct Higgins buttplates, but they would have to be fitted to the stock.

The JC Higgins 33 was made by High Standard for Sears in the mid 1950's.

The name was first used in 1908 and in order to be classified as an antique firearm in the US, it must have been manufactured prior to midnight, December 21, 1898. Any gunsmith should be able to find a stock to fit or you can order one from Numrich Gun Parts at the related link. You'll be looking for a Stevens stock, probably for a Model 311.
