You can contact Remington directly to see if they have any parts supply left for the model 1148,or you can attend gunshows,look on the internet,pawn shops,etc.

Are you sure it's an auto and not a pump action, it sounds like the predecessor to the Remington Model 10.
No such model is listed in the Blue Book or Standard Catalog.
send the serial number and a description of the weapon to customer service at Remington and they will send back the guns history
It it's a Remington made after 1921 it's date code stamped on the barrel otherwise need serial. See related links for information of date codes on the Remington Society of America.
