There's not much information available. Crescent made several million single and double barrel shotguns from 1883 to 1930. They marked them with at least 200 different trade names, Victor being one of the more common ones. Singles usually sell between $25 and $75, depending on condition, but they were only $3-$10 when they were new.
The New Victor Crescent Firearms Co 12 gauge, single shot shotgun is well suited for hunting small game and birds. The breech loading design is reliable and allows for quick reloading.
50-150 USD
Inexpensive; late 1800's made.
What information would you want? Crescent made single shotguns from 1893 to 1930. If it has a large side hammer and damascus barrels, it would almost certainly be from before 1915. If it has fluid steel barrels and a center hammer (or is hammerless) then sometime after 1903.
It would be somewhere between 1893 and 1930.
Circa 1890-1930. Would have to have more information to get closer. sales@countrygunsmith.net
There was no Crescent Firearms Co after 1935 when the company was purchased by Savage/Stevens.
The New Victor 12 gauge single shot shotgun was manufactured by Crescent Firearms Company in Norwich, Connecticut, primarily during the early 20th century, with production starting around 1904 and continuing until the company ceased operations in 1932. These shotguns were popular for their affordability and simplicity, catering to a wide range of hunters and sport shooters during that period.
We just bought a Crescent Firearms 20 gauge single shot at an auction in Walterboro, SC (outside Charleston) for $95 and from what I understand, it's not worth any more than that in great shape. I've done some research online about it and looks as though you will only be able to get parts made by a good gunsmith. The parts are no longer available.
No published sn data. In the 70-100 yr old range.
They were made by Crescent Firearms, and value would be under $100 even in excellent condition. sales@countrygunsmith.net
In 1888, george w. cilley bought out the defunct Bacon Arms Co of Norwich, Conn. He then formed an alliance with Frank Foster and borrowed money to form the Crescent Firearms Co. Cilley and Foster held several firearms patents and both were highly qualified in firearms design and manufacture. They started with single barrel shotguns. Double barrels shotguns production in 1891. Crescent firearms was best known as 'house' brand firearms. About one hundred names have been attributed to guns known or believed to have been made by crescent. Stevens Arms Co. acquired the business in 1931. Many shotguns that do not seem to have a known maker were probably made by Crescent......................
