The JC Higgins 28-gauge shotgun was manufactured by the High Standard Manufacturing Company. It was marketed by Sears, Roebuck and Company under the JC Higgins brand from the late 1940s to the 1960s. The exact number of JC Higgins 28GA shotguns produced is not well-documented, making it difficult to provide a specific figure. However, they are considered relatively rare compared to other models from the era.
I've seen High Standard 28ga shotguns go for $300-$359

I believe you have a JC Higgins model 101.1 This should be a single shot 12 ga. It was made by Savage as the Savage model 94. They were made between 1926 and 1945
The JC Higgins single-shot Damascus shotgun was produced by the J.C. Higgins brand, which was owned by the Sears, Roebuck and Company. These shotguns were typically manufactured by various subcontractors, with the most common maker being the Stevens Arms Company. The J.C. Higgins line was established in the early to mid-20th century, offering affordable firearms to consumers.
Assuming you mean the Savage/Stevens 940E single-shot shotgun, about $125 in 28ga in excellent condition. sales@countrygunsmith.net
I could be wrong, but I believe it was Sears/Roebuck.
Your shot gun was made By Harrington & Richardson For J C Higgins -Sears / High standard. in 1945 http://www.histandard.info/PDF/Sears%20Shotguns.pdf
I do not have a cross reference for THAT model number, but many (not all) of the JC Higgins bolt action shotguns were made by Mossberg. Check with Havlin Sales through their website- they are my "go-to" supplier for anything with older Mossberg guns.
Made by Savage. We have parts. gunshop@nctv.com
