The 12 gauge Western Field Model M550ABR was produced in the early 1970s. This shotgun was indeed made for Montgomery Ward, a retail company that sold firearms under the Western Field brand. It was manufactured by Mossberg, which provided several models for Montgomery Ward's catalog.
Its actually a stevens model 94. Sold by Montgomery Ward. Look on the opposite side of the rifle and you'll see the model 94 stamp. Montgomery Ward never made any guns. They are a department store. Just like Sears doesn't make Kenmore Washer. Whirlpool does. Montgomery Ward just sold it.
