Your gun is a Stevens Model 520. Made for Sears, and marked with the Sears trademark of Ranger. Nice pump shotgun, originally designed by John Browning.
The Sears Ranger 16 gauge shotgun model 30, with the serial number U116647, was likely manufactured in the early 1960s. Sears Ranger shotguns were often produced by various manufacturers, and the date can be estimated based on the serial number and model designation. For a more accurate identification, consulting a specific reference guide or contacting a firearms expert would be advisable.
Stevens, sold at Montgomery Wards.
Rangers are pre-war and it might be a Stevens model 520 ,mfg till late 20's, sold as a Sears "Ranger". If it has a double hump and a square hole on top of the receiver then it's a 520. I have a Ranger in 16 gauge but I keep hearing that it's a model 30 or 31. Can't nail down the model and the receiver's not marked. It only has a "Ranger" on a horse! Barrel has a "Browning pat." stamp on the left side and "full" for choke. Excellent shotguns, built like a tank, but frowned upon by collectors. Suits me just fine!
Marlin made these for Sears but I do not know the exact date when they started or stopped producing them for them.
No. This is a Western field model sold by Montgomery Wards. It was actually made by the Stevens Co. known as the 520 model.
