Sears would negotiate with firearms manufacturers to produce a low cost model of their popular guns. The finish would be less well polished, no checkering, cheaper grips, paint rather than blueing on metal parts - whatever corners could be cut to make the cheapest gun possible. Sears would then buy thousands of that gun to sell through their stores at lower prices than the name brands. Now, forty years later, a 1967 Winchester Model 94 30-30 has more value than a 1967 Ted Williams 30-30.

Military guns and old war guns are best for any collector. The price of this guns is always going up and each year they become more and more rare.

Shooting people. That's a misleading answer. At one time, the Tommy gun was popular among gangsters. Now days, it's uncommon for a machine gun to be used in a crime. Machine guns today are mostly used by target shooters and collectors.
