Lets start with some terms. BULLET is the projectile- the part that comes out of the end of the barrel when you shoot. It is loaded into a CARTRIDGE CASE- the metal shell that holds gunpowder, a primer, and the bullet. The whole assembled thing is a CARTRIDGE. Now, why different cartridges have different gunpowders in different amounts- it comes down to a different design for different firearms. Some fire a heavy slow bullet and some fire a fast lightweight bullet. Some cartridges were made for a handgun, some for a rifle. Some have a short barrel, some a long barrel. Some have a very strong construction, some are lightweight guns.

Dynamite contains lots of gun powder.
Gun powder is used in some small fireworks and it is also used in bullets for guns.
