There is a lot less resistance with the polygonal rifling. More over, if the polygonal rifling is chrome lined, the walls of the barrel are completely slick and offer less resistance. The projectile, the bullet, goes way faster. IDPA estimation here in the US are 10-30% faster.

What is Ballard style rifling?

Ballard style rifling is a type of rifling pattern characterized by its distinctive, polygonal grooves that have a rounded cross-section. Developed in the mid-19th century by the American gunsmith Charles Ballard, this rifling design is known for improving accuracy and stability of the projectile during flight. The grooves are typically deeper and wider than traditional rifling, allowing for better grip on the bullet. Ballard rifling is often found in single-shot rifles and is appreciated for its performance in both target shooting and hunting.

What is a polygonal base?

If you were to parachute in Colorado would you fall slower or faster than in a hotter climate?

In a hotter climate, there are more conventional currents thus meaning that there will be more hot air rising which will effectively slow down the parachute. So in Colorado it will fall faster than in a hotter climate.
