Have you been to a school lately. I'm surprised the teachers aren't going on rampages through the cities in Monster Trucks taking out anything that moves. Carrying guns would be a bad, bad thing.
Actually, a couple of states in the U.S. allow carry of a handgun on school property if the person has a permit. There have been no problems even though anti-gun people scream and yell that there would be shootings every day and people mistakenly shot every day.

I agree that having security personnel on school campuses would help to deter and take down shooters but don't think teachers should carry guns in the classroom.

Unless they're teaching a course in firearms, no. I would add that, if the environment is so deadly as to require teachers to carry firearms, learning is already deeply impaired. Correct the environment instead.
