It is generally not a good idea. If the gun is left under pressure it will eventually leak out. Some say it is okay because the new seals are much better than the old ones. But leaving the C02 in the gun makes it potentially dangerous, if someone else picks it up not knowing that it is capable of firing it could injure someone. I own over 30 different air pistols and never leave a C02 cylinder in any of them after shooting. I accidentally left a discharged one in one of my pistols once and a few months later went to use it again and found that the cylinder had gotten stick in the chamber. I had to dissemble the pistol to get the cylinder loose. It was stuck against the seal.
A CO2 cartridge typically lasts for about 1-2 hours, depending on the size and usage.
To use a CO2 cartridge effectively, first ensure the cartridge is compatible with your device. Then, insert the cartridge into the designated compartment and tighten securely. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for releasing the CO2 gas, typically by pressing a button or lever. Be sure to handle the cartridge carefully and dispose of it properly after use.
I would say that if you put in a full CO2 cartridge and shoot half of it up, and leave it for 2-4 days it would be fine and you would still have 1/4 the cartridge left. Anything more than that would make the slow leak deplete it.
The duration of a CO2 cartridge in a specific device or application depends on factors such as the size of the cartridge, the frequency of use, and the amount of CO2 required for each use. It is recommended to refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for more accurate information on the expected lifespan of a CO2 cartridge in a particular device.
