water evaporate 2 to 3 inches every three days if the temperature is above 90 degree each day.
At any ambient temperature.Explaination for school kidEvaporation of water is different from concept of boiling. Air can uptake small amount of water and long as the air is not saturate, it will drawn any liquid water to fill the content.Dry skin over cold day was due to this evaporation. The hot and humid day cause sweat because the air is filled with water and our sweat can't evaporate.Scientific explainationEvaporation take place when the partial pressure of water (water content) in air is less than the vapour pressure of water. The vapour pressure is depending on temperature. With rising temperature, vapour pressure is higher and when the vapour pressure equal to atmospheric pressure, all water will change to gas and that is the boiling. Though the temperature is at ambient but if the water content in air is less than the vapour pressure, the water still evaporate at ambient temperature.
they have a period of inactivity in the summer and winter. estivation is in the summer. hibernation is in the winter.
Salt water will evaporate first. Salt takes up space so to speak and there's less "water" to evaporate and so it seems to evaporate faster.

If your pond isn't at least 20 ft. deep, at some point. It is almost a guarantee that the pond will need chemicals to help keep it clean. Shallow water, because of heat gain and lack of circulation and aeration and runoff and the fill around the pond; even the vegetation and animals can lead to problems.
Probably in a pond, meaning the snail is called a PONDsnail...
I think it is the condinsation going on, condinsation: condinsation is when fall turns into winter, it removes heat and freezes the pond, spring causes it to melt, summer cuases it to start eveporating, and fall cuases to condence it.
winter
Fish are more active in Spring/Summer, feeding and growing well but falling into a state of 'hibernation' in Autumn/Winter when they stop feeding completely. So feed in spring and summer. Stop in winter and fall! Most bags of koi food have directions on how much to feed depending on temperature. Don't overfeed or the pond water will get dirty faster.
There are a number of reasons why pond water would become stagnant in the summer. Pond water may not be stirred often enough.
Lack of oxygen
