BECAUSE the air gets cooler as you go up because there is less air
Snowstorms aren't necessarily bad. Most plants and animals need snow & the water it provides as it melts in the spring & summer to thrive. For humans snowstorms can be an inconvenience or even deadly. Whether they are bad or not for us mostly depends on how prepared we are for the winter season in terms of shelter, food, water & heating.
Near the North Pole and on top of mountains. Even in the summer, the region near the North Pole in Canada and Alaska, and on the tallest mountains, it still is somewhat cold in the summer.
The top of a mountain can vary greatly depending on its location and geological characteristics. It may have a small peak with rocky terrain, a flat summit with a cairn or summit marker, or even a gentle slope covered in vegetation. Some mountains may also have cliffs or jagged rock formations at their summit.
Mountains that are snow covered even in the summer typically have high elevations, which means that temperatures are colder at those heights. This prevents the snow from melting, leading to year-round snow coverage. Additionally, the slopes of these mountains may be angled in a way that prevents sunlight from reaching the snow, keeping it frozen.
Kenya has snow-tipped mountains such as Mount Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro due to their high elevation and the presence of glaciers at the peaks. These mountains are located near the equator, but their elevation creates colder temperatures at the summit, allowing snow to accumulate.
Mountains are generally much higher. However, the real difference is that plateaus have a flat area on top. This flat area can be quite large, even mile across. A mountain has little or no flat space on its peak or summit.
No, definitely not. Hills, but no mountains even close.
the weather in the summer according to my caculation is very very cold!. And if you calculate that it is 12celsius.. soo according to my hypothesis, i have concluded that whoever asked this question is the stupidest person alive!!.. and if you killed yourself then you will be the stupidest person that was alive!
Weather conditions will be different at the summit from conditions at the base, usually. The mountain doesn't even have to be massive for this to be true. Mt. Washington in the White Mountains of New Hampshire is a modest 6,288 feet if memory serves. But as you hike or drive up, you move above the tree line and enter what is really tundra. There are no trees; just rock and lichen. It can be extremely windy and noticeably cooler than at the base. You can even be completely 'socked in' by cloud cover at the summit, even if it is a mostly sunny day at the base. There is also a wonderful cog railway that takes you to the summit, and the station is not far from the famous Mt Washington Hotel.
There are no mountains in London (not even any respectable hills.)
Summit is a good setting because the police force there (if there even is any) wouldn't be able to hurt the kidnappers at all.
Mountains are found throughout the world, even under oceans.
