∙ 13y agoI believe you are talking about Senator Joseph Raymond McCarthy. Unfortunately McCarthy was not anti-communist at all, he was just a pro-McCarthy opportunist taking advantage of the then "red scare" to ruin a lot of mostly innocent people's lives in an attempt to advance his own political career. There have been many "red scares" in US history, each with its own opportunists willing to ruin innocent peoples lives to advance their own.
