Back in the day if you lived in the New Brunswick somerset area and you wanted to get to the ocean the best place along the way was through Old Bridge. Along this route to the sea the first decent place where you could build a bridge was in my home town, Old Bridge. It crossed the south river which connects to Duhernal Lake and you can still travel across the bridge today via Old Bridge Turnpike. I have also heard mention the George Washington wrote in his journals about passing across an Old Bridge and hence the name stuck.

What is the old name of Rani Pokhari?

Its old name in Newa Bhasa is 'Nhu Pukhu', which means 'the new pond'. The name probably came about because of the fact that there were numerous ornamental ponds in the Newar city-states. At that time, the pond dug out by Pratap Malla must have been the latest addition. "Rani Pokhari" is the Parbate-ized name.
