He changed the world by not giving up. When he fought Cortes in a battle he lost and went to jail. He also lost an eye. Then he asked Charles V to send him on an expedition in Florida. He and his soldiers destroyed everything that belonged to the natives. The expedition eventually closed and they had to return home. They didn't own any ships, so they built 4 large rafts. A large storm hit and 80 soldiers survived not including him..
