Paper is made by cutting pieces of wood from trees and thinning it small and some other stuff done by machines to make it look more factory-made. well paper has quite a lot of uses so I'm sure it made a GREAT impact on the world. for instance: Japan could now create the essence of Origami. also the more obvious and probably the first use of paper was to draw on. paper was a very great way to fill up the hole of boredom- and it still is!

Paper is light and can be written on easily. If it wasn't for paper, then we'd probably still be carving on rocks and writing on bamboo and silk! But we also need to thank the pen, or else we'd have nothing to write with!

Paper was first invented in China and basically the same processed is still used today. First chop up the wood into coarse "sawdust". Second use a solvent (early pulp paper used acidic solvents which yellowed the paper over time, modern solvents are usually nonacidic) to dissolve the lignin to make a wood paste. Third spread the paste on a "web" and allow it to dry (solvent evaporate, the lignin resolidifies). Fourth remove the paper from the "web" and trim to desired size.

One major impact was development of paper money, making economic growth rates independent of supplies of precious metals.
