Industrial rivalry between Britain and Germany leading up to WW1, was all about the "Arms Race" of Dreadnaughts (Battleships). Any nation could possess an Army; but only a highly sophisticated country possessed a modern Navy. Prior to aircraft and tanks; Armies consisted of just men. Navies consisted of machines (engine powered warships). Consequently, technology was required to build a Navy. Britain's Armies had colonized much of the world, due to England's ability to project her military might with her Royal Navy. If Germany wished to send it's Armies abroad, it too, must have a Navy; and a powerful one to challenge Britain's Fleets. The Kaiser goaded his cousin Nick (Tsar of Russia) into fighting the Japanese in 1904-1905, thus eliminating the Russian Navy as a competitor in the Arms Race. Italy and France were not serious contenders in the eyes of Germany. The US was too far away to be considered a threat. That left Britain. Great Britain & Germany built up their Dreadnaught Fleets and engaged at Jutland in 1916. A battle known as the "Battle of Lost Opportunities", as both sides claimed victory. However, the German Fleet never challenged the English again...and WW1 remained basically a land war.
They both wanted to colonize countries in Africa + Britain was building up its navy and Germany felt threatened by it so started building up its navy too. There's loads more to the answer but this is all I've got.
A: Japan and Russia both claimed the same territory in northern Asia B: Britain, France, and Germany competed for colonies in Africa and Asia C: Germany feared the rise of communism in Russia and France D: Britain and Germany each wanted to gain control of France.
Germany was envious of Britain's empire due to its vast colonial holdings and global influence, which made Britain a dominant world power. The German Empire, established later in the late 19th century, sought to expand its own territories and assert itself on the global stage. This rivalry fueled competition for colonies and resources, contributing to rising tensions that played a significant role in the lead-up to World War I. Germany's desire for a "place in the sun" reflected its ambition to achieve parity with Britain and other established empires.
This Tension was beacuase Both Germany at Great Britain at the time where looking to expand and widen there empire, this caused tension beacuse both nations feared that the other would try to invade their land. This is also another reason wh y the alliance systems where created.
