how they got people to join the army was mainly force and peer pressure and sometimes if you did not go to war you would be sent a white feather naming you a coward and i think you would have to be a brave person not to go because a lot of people especially old ladies who sons were lost in the war would mock you if you didn't have a good reason not to go to war.(tho some people were given the option war or prison)
