Europe was in a shambles and Germany was the worst of them all because Allied bombing had pretty much leveled all the cities, military installations and manufacturing places. There was rubble everywhere. There were blown up military tanks, vehicles and artillery all over Europe. Farms had been harmed too but not intentionally. So Europe not only had to clean up they were homeless in Germany and many other countries had homeless people who were hungry and without jobs. Farms had to be restored too. So the Allied Forces got the people started cleaning up and paid them a small amount. They gave food to them for a while. It took ten years to get Europe to look normal again. Some countries fared better than others such as Denmark and the neutral nations. You can find photos of the cities on discovery com and other websites about World War 2. I could cite them all day and never get done. Look at our library under the history category.
