Boadicea was the commonly used version of her name, probably derived from a mistranslation of Tacitus's account of her rebellion, in a manuscript from the Middle Ages. Boadicea was used until the mid-20th century. Her name is spelled as Boudicca in the best Tacitus manuscripts, but Boudica is the most common, and widely accepted spelling.
