Who were the 2 democratic states in Europe 1939?

In 1939, the two democratic states in Europe were France and the United Kingdom. Both countries had established parliamentary systems and were characterized by multi-party politics. What type of government existed in European countries after World War 2?

After World War II, many European countries established democratic governments, often influenced by the political ideologies of the victorious Allied powers. Western European nations typically embraced capitalist democracies, while Eastern European countries came under the influence of the Soviet Union, adopting communist regimes. This division led to the emergence of the Cold War, characterized by a clear ideological split between Western democracy and Eastern communism. Overall, the post-war period was marked by a struggle between these competing political systems across the continent.

How was European imperialsim still evident after ww1?

After World War I, European imperialism remained evident through the mandates established by the League of Nations, which allowed European powers to maintain control over former territories of the defeated Ottoman and German empires. Countries like Britain and France expanded their influence in the Middle East and Africa under the guise of "civilizing" these regions. Additionally, the economic and political dominance of European nations continued to shape global affairs, as they sought to extract resources and maintain trade networks in their colonies. This persistence of imperialist attitudes laid the groundwork for future conflicts and movements toward decolonization.

How did fascist Italy create a high level world profile between World War 1 and World War 2?

Fascist Italy, under Benito Mussolini, became a high profile European power between the world wars. It was one of the outside guarantors of the 1925 Locarno agreement. Later it became a signatory to the 1938 Munich settlement. It also kept its high profile by drawing contempt for its attack on Corfu in 1923, by "intensifying" the pacification of Libya, and sending 50,000 troops to aid Franco in the Spanish Civil War. Italy's invasion of Ethiopia was verbally challenged by the League of Nations, but little was done to help that beleaguered nation.
