The first estate consisted of the members of clergy. The second estate was made of the nobility classes, and the third estate was what contained the peasants, Parisians (or urban workers), and the bourgeoisie who were the upper middle class and were the richest of this estate.

This group was made up of the middle class of the French. Mainly the 3rd class. The 1st class was Priests while the 2nd class was made up of Nobles and wealthy landowners. 3rd class were wealthy peasants and the bourgeoisie.

Vote by Estate meant that each Estate was entitled to one vote per Estate, so the First and Second Estates (made up of about 2% of France's population, the aristocracy and the clergy) could vote together and successfully vote against 98% of France. Voting by head meant that the Estates would vote based on population, meaning that the Third Estate would have much more votes than the First and Second Estates.

The first group is the bourgeoisie whom are bankers, factory owners, merchants, professionals, and skilled artisans. They were rich like the nobles in the Second Estate but didn't have their privileges. The workers in France are the second group of the Third Estate and were the most poor. They were frequently out of work and went hungry. The last group were the peasants. They formed 80% of the population.
In feudal society, most people were peasants. In many countries the peasants were mostly serfs.
The Catholic Clergy.
The third estate in France was the overwhelming majority of the citizenry and included everyone who was NOT part of the clergy or the nobility. The group of the Third Estate with the largest population was the peasantry and farmers. The group of the Third Estate which was the most politically astute was the bourgeoisie, made of lawyers, doctors, bankers, public officials.
