to change the economic, political, and social forces of peoples lives.
European nations were in a race to reach the New World primarily for economic gain, driven by the desire for new trade routes, resources, and wealth, particularly in precious metals like gold and silver. Additionally, the competition for territorial claims and the spread of Christianity motivated countries like Spain, Portugal, France, and England to establish colonies. This quest for expansion was fueled by advancements in navigation and shipbuilding, allowing for longer voyages. Ultimately, the desire for power and prestige on the global stage further intensified this race among European powers.
"Race" is such a flexible term. Some people think of there being three races (African, Asian, European) other four or five, still others as many as they need, ("Jewish race," "Irish race," etc.) Aryans or "Indo-European" were a huge collection of peoples distinquished by speaking languages with a common parent, although that parent itself has long since mutated by the time anybody thought of the term. As it suggests, there are both European and Asian (Indian) components though not quite everybody in Europe is Indo-European, nor is everybody in India. There are even other Asian members now known only through the scripts they left, known as Tocharian Linear.
The Islamic slave trade was not based primarily on race.
A competition between European imperial powers to control Africa
By 1914, tensions between European countries were primarily fueled by strong feelings of nationalism, militarism, and imperialism. Nationalistic fervor led nations to assert their dominance and seek greater territorial control, while militarism resulted in an arms race and a belief in military solutions to conflicts. Additionally, imperial ambitions created rivalries as countries competed for colonies and resources. These factors combined to create a volatile atmosphere that ultimately contributed to the outbreak of World War I.

In the European colonies, slavery allowed for economic prosperity through the exploitation of free labor. In African societies, the slave trade led to social disruption, violence, and the extraction of individuals based on race, which had lasting impacts on communities. Overall, the institutions of slavery contributed to the perpetuation of power imbalances and inequalities in both European and African contexts.
