India is a country rich in natural resources and stands as one of the major exporters of iron ore in the world. It also possesses bauxite, copper and mineral gemstones. Other resources include an abundance of rain forest and swamp land, which have created booming pharmaceutical and supplement trades. Fish are another major export. India also contains large reserves of coal and oil.


World biggest coal mine?

The world's largest coal mine currently (based on production) is the Black Thunder Mine in Northeast Wyoming. Black Thunder Mine is owned by Thunder Basin Coal Company, which is a subsidiary of Arch Coal Western Resources. 2009 Production was 73.6 million short tons at the Black Thunder Facility, down from 86 million in 2008. In late 2009, Thunder Basin Coal Company purchased the adjoining Jacobs Ranch Mine from Rio Tinto Energy America, and combined the two facilities. Jacobs Ranch Mine produced 38.7 million short tons in 2009, and the projected tonnage for 2010 for the new combined Black Thunder Mine is 120 million short tons. The second largest coal mine in the world is the neighboring North Antelope Rochelle Mine, owned by Powder River Coal Company, which in 2009 produced 98.6 million short tons. Projected production for 2010 for NARM is 100 million short tons. Northeastern Wyoming produces more coal than any other region in the world.
