New York state or New York city i don't know which you mean but the city is the more famous faces high costs of living. expensive rents and housing prices. food is a little higher than normal as is gasoline and heating oil. parking is at a premium and some spots in a well patrolled lot can cost upwards of $30,000 a year which is more than some states mean family income. but for your buck you get the Broadway plays -the Yankees and mets. the museums the art galleries Lincoln center for opera and ballet you get greenwich village and soho. you get 5th avenue shopping 17,000 restaurants television shows -letterman and sometimes Dylan, Mick Jagger and many many more. you get pacino de niro sitting next to you at a lunch counter. you also had the twin towers for a while. you got wall street Broadway, you can get a $40 hamburger at 2an in the waldorf. yeah some people have to deal with these hardships every day while others pick through trash pails in daylight to try and put together a meal. you have homeless people living in subways that the city doesn't even know these places exist. you can get stares and glares from some idiots who think you are a detriment to the city, while another gives away money every day to beggers on the street. you can get your windshield cleaned for a buck at a traffic light and if you see him coming you can get him to not clean your windshield for 2 bucks. hardships andgrand living in New York are sometimes only a seat apart on the subway but we co-exist because we adapt to our surroundings because we are new yorkers
