World War I was the biggest war in memory for the people during that time period. I believe they called it the war to end all wars. They hadn't had World War II yet, and so they though that World War I was going to be the biggest war in history for all time.
Taxes of the 14th century, and part of the 15th century, were high in England and France because of the Hundred Years' War.
During the 15th century, England primarily controlled parts of Wales and Ireland, with Wales being formally annexed by the Laws in Wales Acts in the late 15th century. Additionally, England had territories in France due to the ongoing conflicts of the Hundred Years' War, including regions like Normandy and Aquitaine. However, by the end of the century, England's control in France diminished significantly, with only the port city of Calais remaining.

Battle of Agincourt fought between the Kingdom of England and France Battle of Castillon that end the hundred years war War of the Roses between the house of York and the house of Lancaster. Henry VII defeats Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth and becomes King of England.
I'm not sure if this was the earliest use, but there were land mines in the American Civil War. Precursors of conventional landmines appeared in the 15th century at the Battle of Agincourt in England.
