Tudor shoes were mostly made of leather. Wealthy Tudor women sometimes wore shoes made from silk, satin or embroidered fabrics. There was also overshoes, called "pattens" which were made of wood. Their object was to protect your feet and regular footwear by keeping them clean and dry in the filthy streets. If I remember correctly these were a platform shoe.
Tudor homes had a wooden framework of beams. The uneven beams were cut by hand. Steeply-pitched roofs are covered with clay or stone tiles. Early homes had thatched roofs. Upper stories of Tudor homes overhang the lower stories. Wooden window frames hold tall, casement windows with small panes. Chimneys are tall and thin. Tudor homes of the wealthy have ornate chimneys with symmetrical patterns made from cut brick.
The Tudor rose, supposedly devised by Henry VII to combine the symbols of York and Lancaster, the white and red roses. Actually these symbols were made up a long time afterwards.
