Adolf Hitler was appointed Reich Chancellor by President Hindenburg on 30 January 1933 as the head of a coalition government made up of the NSDAP (Nazis) and the conservative nationalist DNVP (German Nationalists).
In August 1934, following the death of President Hindenburg, Hitler proclaimed himself Führer (Leader) of Germany. He remained in office till he committed suicide on 30 April 1945.

The Federal Chancellor heads the Federal government and is thus in charge of the executive branch. The Chancellor can't be removed from office during his or her four-year term unless the Bundestag has agreed upon a successor.
