Led by Prince Rupert, the Royalists lost at the Battle of Marston Moor on July 2, 1644 mainly because they did not have a well coordinated force; some troops were fast while others were slow and so they had to mount on the moor itself which made it hard for them. His military commander had a grudge on him and this also led to a lack of co-operation amongst the Royalist commanders.
