Research is important to the writing of history beause it's fact and evidence. Bias is a very important thing to avoid in the writing of history because history tends to repeat itself, knowing history is a great way to avoid future mistakes but bias can make learning history difficult because it's not entirely true.

Historiography is the study of the way history is written and understood; so a historiographer is one who studies and writes the history of history writing and historians.
History goes back to the very beginning, while history of literature only goes back in time to the beginning of formal writing.

Most Historians agree that civilization began when people began writing and cultivating, all ages before man used writing are referred to as pre-history.
The main sources of history can be summarized by the following: * archaeological findings which reveal many aspects of history; * the writings of prior historians; * the writings of primary figures in history such as the works of Plato; and * studying oral history that was later placed in writing.
unfortunately, we tend to judge history using the eyes of the period of the writer of the history. that applies to mary and every other significant historical person or event.

to a greater out look, both colonialists and nationalist historians are prisoners of their time as they wrote their history being governed by the ruling elite governmentof their time, their history was so limited and mainly designed to promote and legitimise the ruling power of the time ,they did not write history just for the sake of writing but were being influenced by the prevailing situation of their time
