North Korea appears desolate because the citizens are so isolated from the rest of the world. The government of North Korea does not allow much interaction between those people and the world.

What is an example of an ergotocracy country?

An example of an ergotocracy country would be North Korea. In an ergotocracy, power is held by those who control the food supply, and in North Korea, the ruling regime tightly controls food distribution to maintain their authority. So yeah, North Korea fits the bill for being an ergotocracy, among other things.

Why was Korea divided after world war 2?

Well, I live in Korea right now so I know :). Long time ago a part of Korean people wanted to have one religion and one religion only that people could believe in, and that was aithiesm (don't know how to spell that cuz I'm just 11) . They didn't agree to free choice of religion. But then other Koreans wanted to have a free choice of religion and they wanted freedom. The two parts each wanted Korea two be their way, but it couldn't work that way. So then the counsel and the government decided they would devide Korea into two, Aithesm and free choice of religion. North Korea would have only the one religion, and the people in South Korea would have a free choice of religion. Hope I made you understand more about Korea.

Why did north Korea boycott the 1988 olympic games in Seoul?

Its all about Jealousy. North Korea hates seeing its Southern Neighbour succeed in world wide events. Kim Il-sung thinks North Korea is the supirior Korea and that the South has no place in the modern world. He must have been so pissed when he found out his neighbour's economy overtook his in the 70s and 80s. So when Seoul won the olympic bid, North Korea threw a tantrum and demanded to the Olympic committee that half the games take place in their capital Pyongyang (they claim this would make the world see Korea as one country which is what they want). The Olympic committee said that Seoul and Seoul alone won the right to host the 1988 olympics but could offer North Korea only some events to keep it happy. North Korea refused and boycotted the games in protest.

Are people allowed to leave from North Korea?

No people are not allowed to leave North Korea, they can escape to South Korea, but risk being shot, or if caught trying to escape North Korea they can get heavy punishment, so the only way to get out of North Korea if your North Korean is to escape out of North Korea secretly, and go to South Korea, via another country that can give you asylum.
