How did Alice Cullen in twilight become a vampire?

Alice and her partner/friend (?), (who was an older vampire) were on the run from James. In order to save Alice, the older vampire changed her. In anger, James killed the older vampire. He left Alice alone, presumably because he couldn't fight a younger vampire. Alice can't remember because before the older vampire took she was in a mental asylum for her visions and surrounded by darkness, so the only past she would remember would be darkness. Also it has been a very long time.

Alice's partner (who is not named) was a vampire and they unfortunately ran into James. Alice's partner, in order to save her, changed her. So, probably because he would be unable to fight a newborn, James killed Alice's partner. Alice, presumably, couldn't remember anything, because all human memories, for vampires, are blurred and if no one was there with her, she wouldn't be able to remember. This is explained in Twilight, but, sorry Stephanie Meyer, not explained very well.

Alice Cullen was turned into a vampire by a vampire named James. He bit her and left her for dead, but she was found by a vampire named Jasper Hale, who helped her adjust to her new life as a vampire.
