Ultimately, the Giver stays behind in the community while Jonas escapes, holding onto the memories and continuing to provide guidance to those left behind.

The old Receiver felt a sense of relief and lightness after transmitting a memory to Jonas. It was a cathartic experience for him, as memories carry a heavy burden and sharing them with Jonas allowed for some emotional release.
The Giver did not transmit the memory of music to Jonas. He offered but Jonas refused.
