Try skimming through the pages, and picking up on the key ideas. Then, go to a website like Sparknotes (see related links) for summaries and analysis of the text. However, make sure your teacher allows you to use this site and doesn't consider it cheating. Another idea is to listen to the audiobook on an iPod, mp3, or computer. You can borrow these from your public library, buy them, or use a site like Librivox (see related links). Librivox is good because it is free, safe, and legal. Since these are somewhat long (can be 20+ hours) you may need to play it twice as fast. However, these are good if you are multitasking.
