How does Lord of the Flies begin?

The rescuer was the naval officer who landed on the island in the last chapter of the book. His arrived rescued Ralph from certain death at the hands of Jack and his tribe. The implication is that the naval officer and his vessel would rescue all of the remaining boys from the fire ravaged island.
