The Giver stays in the Community, after Jonas leaves with Gabriel. The Giver helps the Community deal with all of the new memories and feelings they have received, because when Jonas left, all the memories he got from The Giver were released into the Community.
The people that attend the ceremonies in The Giver (by Lois Lowry) are first the children. Children are considered to be when they are 1-11 years of age, or an "Eleven" or a "Two" as in the story. There are also newchildren who are with the Nurturers, two other people that attend the ceremonies. The third are the Committee of Elders, (it's members, the head elder, and the receiver). Finally, there are the Laborers (EX: they sweep the hair after the Ceremony of Tens.) I'm pretty sure I'm missing things, and if I am please edit :)

The Giver has to carry all the pain so that he is able to lead the community into a better direction with the knowledge that the memories bring. But he has to carry it so that everyone else in the community doesn't have to feel pain and suffering.
The Colosseum was an all purpose stadium. Some of the events held there were the wild animal hunts, the public executions, the gladiatorial contests, mock naval battles and public religious ceremonies. About the only events that were not held there were chariot races. The Colosseum was an all purpose stadium.
