You have asked for an opinion- different folks will have different opinions. This is mine. In the 10 Commandments, you have probably read "Thou shall not kill". At the time the King James version of The Bible was translated, words had a different meaning. The original word was murder- as in "You will not commit murder." and was translated as kill- since at the time, to kill was to murder. To take the life of an attacker or in battle, was not kill, but a different word that would translate in Middle English as "Slay". My opinion- no, necessary killing of an enemy in military combat is not a sin. Jesus even advised his disciples before leaving on a dangerous journey to take their wallets, and if they did not own a sword, to sell their coats and buy one. A sword is not used for peeling potatoes.
No, no killing in defense is not a sin. It's a sign of defense.
Surprisingly enough, To Kill a Mockingbird.
