In the warriors books, apprentice training is when the mentors (warriors chosen to teach the apprentices) train the apprentices to fight in the area for that purpose or hunt in the forest/river/wherever.
Its a really kind of kiddy game, where you use your imagination and run around "training" to become a warrior cat. Its not virtual, but if you want the instructions, go to the warriors website and there you can find the bylaws of the game.
Its called a hunting assessment. Only apprentices do it, when they are about the become young warriors. If they fail the test, then they don't become warriors. Its that simple.
In the Warriors series, there are various ranks and positions within the clans, including leader, deputy, medicine cat, warriors, apprentices, queens, elders, and kits. Each position plays a vital role in maintaining the clan's balance, traditions, and way of life.

An apprentice is sort of like a student in Warriors. The apprentices train and they are taught by their teachers, called Mentors.
In the Warriors book series, the ranks in a cat clan are: leader, deputy, medicine cat, warriors, apprentices, elders, queens (mother cats), and kits (young cats). Leaders are in charge of the clan, while deputies act as their second-in-command. Medicine cats are responsible for caring for the health and well-being of the clan. Warriors defend the clan, apprentices are being trained to become warriors, elders are retired cats, queens are nursing or expecting mothers, and kits are young cats.
It ends with whatever the leader decides what it should end with.
