yes, a spirit user has to stake a Strigoi with a stake charmed with healing powers.
Yes Dimitri is made into a strigoi in the 3rd or 4th book. In the 5th book Rose finds a way to turn him back but it involves Lissa using spirit and learning to fight, which Rose isn't happy about at all. Dimitri is eventually turned back without bonding to Lissa like Rose. He doesn't quite act the same though.
the origin of strigoi date back to the Dacians some say theyre from Sacramento though
Dimitri did not turn Strigoi by choice, him and some other of the school's guardians were in a battle with Strigoi to rescue some students from the academy they kidnapped when he was caught and turned Strigoi against his will. Rose wanted to go back to rescue him, but she would just die too if she did. Hope I helped.
no, in the 5th book of the series, dimitri turns back. SPOILERS to kill a strigoi you need to have a charmed stake with the four elements. but lissa discovers if you charm a stake with spirit, you can restore a strigoi. but the stake must be driven through the heart by a spirit user itself. so lissa learns how to stake a strigoi and then she stakes dimitri through the heart. dimitri then turns back.
He's a strigoi because there was a big attack on the academy, so the gaurdians had to fight them. Some gaurdians died when they attacked the place that the strigoi were staying. Dimitri got cornered in a tunnel and got turned. Hope this helped.
3rd: Shadow-Kissed Rose and her friends are back at the academy, and Rose keeps getting visits from Mason's ghost/spirit. Later the school is attacked by a Strigoi war, and Dimitri gets turned into Strigoi. Oh, and right before the Strigoi war Dimitri and Rose have sex. :P (Kind of sucks, huh? :P )
yes twice. Once in spirit Bound when Dimitri's a strigoi and he's trying to kill Rose and then Eddie goes to kill him and Rose pushes Dimitri out of the way. She thinks they re might be a way to save him and return him to his Dampir form. And the second time is in last sacrifice when Dimitri goes in for one strigoi and the other come at him Rose has his back though
Dimitri has turned strigoi due to the attack in the cave where Janine, Rose, other guardians including Dimitri himself were fighting. It happened to be when Rose and the others had finished off killing the strigoi when suddenly another strigoi jumps out and takes out Dimitri by surprise but no one could help because the sun was about to set which meant more strigoi were going to come. Rose who was trying to save him couldn't reach in time and was told by her mother that he was dead because everyone saw the blond strigoi bite him. Dimitri was to be dead or taken away with the strigoi because in the morning all the guardians go searching for bodies only to come back with lots of injured and dead bodies that belonged to other guardians who were along side Rose and Dimitri. Rose finds out for sure what happened to Dimitri when she runs out the wards to meet her long dead friend, Mason who is there in the form of a spirit. He tells Rose that Dimitri is no longer alive nor dead but a strigoi.
Strigoi, Dhampir and Moroi can be found throughout Romanian folklore. Strigoi are believed to be immortal vampires whereas Moroi are believed to be mortal. Dhampir are believed to be the children of a vampire fathers and a human mothers. This is how they are pronounced: Strigoi- Strig-Oi Dhampir- Dam-peer Moroi- Mo-roy
Retour. Return as in 'go back' is Retourner. Return as in 'come back' is Revenir.
Okay so the conflict is basically the plot. But the conflict changes for each book in the series. So.... The plot is basically Rose, half vampire half human, (Dhampir) is the bodyguard AKA Guardian of Vasilissa Dragomir, the last one in her family. They are best friends and Vasilissa, AKA Lissa, doesn't have elemental magic like other vampires of her kind. (The Moroi) she has spirit. When Rose once died in a car crash, Lissa used spirit to bring her back, which made Rose shadow-kissed and they formed a bond, that's only one-way. Rose can pop into Lissa's head and see and feel what she is seeing and feeling at any time she wants. And because she is shadow-kissed, Rose can feel when Strigoi (undead evil vampires; immortal; she protects lissa from them) are nearby. Here are the conflicts in the following books in the series: 1st: Vampire Academy Rose and Lissa were captured after running away from their school so they can start a life of their own. When captured they get some serious punishments, and Rose needs to work on her guardian-skills since she missed classes. She has a new personal trainer, a 6'7'' hottie named Dimitri. They fall in love, but having Rose being 16 and Dimitri in his twenties, they have to keep their love a secret and at times not even be in love at all. Also Lissa is kidnapped by her uncle in the Dashkov family (Victor Dashkov) and used and abused to make him get better from his sickness by having her heal him with her spirit magic. He is later caught and sent to this horrible prison called Tarasov Prison. 2nd: Frostbite There has been a Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir's; the school/vampire academy. The students and some families are all staying at this resort, where Dimitri starts to have an affair with another woman named Tasha. Rose then starts to get attention from a royal moroi, Adrian Ivashkov, known for playing woman. But he is actually in love with her, but she doesn't like him. (Yet) Mason, a really good friend of Rose's, is in love with her too. When Rose hears about Dimitri and Tasha, she makes out with Mason. Later in the book Rose, Mason, Lissa and her boyfriend Christian, (Tasha's nephew) and their friend Eddie is kidnapped by Strigoi. Mason is later killed, and Rose keeps seeing his ghost. :P ) 4th: Blood Promise When Rose turns 18, she drops out of school. Remembering when Dimitri and her were talking earlier (in the 1st book) that if ever any one of them turns Strigoi to set out and kill them, because its a life they don't want. Setting out on a mission to drive a stake through Dimitri's heart, Rose travels to Russia and meets his family, delivering the bad news. Later Rose is kidnapped by Dimitri, but not killed. Strigoi feel no love or beauty, but Dimitri was using her for sex and blood. After a while, Rose escapes and kills Dimitri. Or so she thought. At the end of the book, she gets a letter from her stating to never leave your kill without knowing its dead. 5th: Spirit Bound When Rose went to Russia to kill Dimitri, she remembers a friend of his family's saying that you can use Spirit to bring a Strigoi back to life. She goes on a quest to retrieve Victor Dashkov from prison, because he is the only one who knows where his brother Robert is. Robert is important because he is the one who knows how to bring Strigoi back to life. 6th (And Last): The Last Sacrifice I haven't finished it yet, but basically Rose is framed for murdering the queen of the Moroi court and Lissa has run for queen. She and her friends, and Rose's new boyfriend, Adrian, (:]) is trying to prove Rose's innocence as she and Strigoi-turned-back Dimitri frees Rose and has her escape prison without a chance to prove her innocence. Rose finds out that Lissa has one other relative, and to help Lissa and the rest of the Moroi world show that Lissa can be a good queen, they need to find him/her and bring them to court. Only problem is they are related to Sonya Karp, a former moroi spirit user at St. Vladimir's academy that turned Strigoi to get rid of spirit and what it does to her. She has been lost for awhile and they aren't even sure if she is still around. Her lover, her former guardian, Mikhail, is also helping prove Rose's innocence in order to bring Sonya back. Victor and Robert help Rose and Dimitri in their quest, along with an Alcheimist named Sydney that Rose met in Blood Promise. An Alcheimist is a human that knows about the Moroi/Strigoi world and helps keep them a secret. Of course, those are the main conflicts. There are always those minor conflicts in each and every book. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead should be the heir to the Twilight Saga Throne. In my oppinion, Vampire Academy is a way better book than Twilight. (That's saying something; I used to be obsessed with Twilight.) Better plot, better characters, and better writing style. ;] ;) Definitely a good read. If you haven't read it yet, you definitely should soon. :) -Anna- <3 Peace
