In Narnian time, the Voyage of the Dawn Treader takes place after the events of Prince Caspian (although it was actually written before it). In Narnian time, this is in 2306-7, and in the children's "real world" time, it is 1942. By now, Peter and Susan are too old to return to Narnia, having learnt everything they can from that world, so Lucy and Edmund's pugnacious cousin Eustace Clarence Scrubb accompanies them.
