Grace is a social climber who is extremely concerned with presenting herself as sophisticated and upper-class. Grace changed her middle name to "Windsor" from the original "Windkloppel" to hide her true origins; this disguises the fact that she is the only heir who truly is a niece of Sam Westing. She is not as shallow as she comes across, having married for love and not for money, but is determined that her daughter Angela will fare better in life than she did. (Grace does not understand her younger daughter, Turtle, and frequently neglects her or otherwise shows favoritism.) Using her interior decorating skills, she helps her Westing Game partner, James Hoo, fix up his shop with a new look and title (Hoo's on First), which helps it attract more customers. After Hoo goes into the paper insole business, Grace takes over Hoo's on First (now a restaurant chain going all the way to Hoo's on Tenth). According to Turtle, Hoo's on Tenth isn't as successful, but Grace keeps it going to be close to Jake.

The Grace Wexler finds the Grace necklace in the Westing mansion while searching for clues for the Westing Game. Grace Windsor Wexler and Windy Windkloppel are cousins in "The Westing Game" by Ellen Raskin. Grace is the daughter of Berthe Erica Crow and Samuel Westing, while Windy is the son of Angela Wexler and Alexander McSouthers (Sam Westing's aliases in the story).
Dr. Wexler's connection to Sam Westing in "The Westing Game" is that they were both co-owners of Westing Paper Products. Dr. Wexler was one of the heirs chosen to participate in Sam Westing's game to determine his heir.
Jake Wexler is related to Sam Westing because he is married to Grace Windkloppel and Sam Westing's real last name is Windkloppel but if Jake wasn't married to Grace he would't be related to Sam Westing since Jake is Jewish.
Grace Windsor Wexler's missing necklace was found inside the Westing mansion during the game. It was placed there as part of the elaborate mystery orchestrated by Samuel Westing to challenge the heirs and reveal the true heir to his fortune. Grace had unknowingly hidden it inside her cosmetic case during the game.
The four heirs with Westing connections are Angela Wexler, Grace Windsor Wexler, Turtle Wexler, and Sydelle Pulaski. These four characters have a personal or professional relationship with Sam Westing, which connects them to the mystery of his will and estate in the book "The Westing Game" by Ellen Raskin.
