In Fablehaven book one, a metaphor could be "the sinister darkness enveloped the forest like a shroud," comparing the darkness to a covering that masks what lies beneath.
In "The Giver," the Receiver had pale eyes, an indication of his unique role in the community and his ability to receive memories and knowledge from the Giver.
newchildren are given to parents who applied for one.
One metaphor that i know for sure is basically the entire book. Everyone in Jonas`s community says that his world is a perfect world unlike others. That is an easy metaphor to find because it is comparing two things stating that one thing is perfect. :)
At the Ceremony in the beginning of the book Gabriel is one. At the end of the book Gabriel is going to turn two.
oh one topic would be why should u read the giver book or not
Nwoye is in one metaphor represented by cold lifeless ash.
One example of a metaphor in the book "The Underdogs" by Mike Lupica is when the main character is described as a "fierce lion on the basketball court," comparing his strength and determination to that of a powerful animal.

There were two: Number the Stars and The Giver.
