What position did each side hold in the civil war? In my own words: The southwas really pissed at the North because they were imposing embargos, tariffs etc... so the South couldn't sell their home grown items such as: cotton, tobacco peanuts etc.... , at a decent price because they wouldn't give the North a cheaper purchase prices, thus, embargos......., this really hurt the South economicaly. Also the South wanted to be their own country, since President Lincoln wanted to keep the Union a whole nation, the South said hell with y'all..., thus, started another issue for the North to put their 2 cents into: SLAVERY..... President Lincoln said: He didn't care if the South kept their slaves as long as the South didn't pull away from the union ( 13 States ), and as the story goes... began .." The Civil War.
