Nothing Jonas was in a rush, therefore he did not go to receive courage and strength like he was promised
The Giver shared a dream with Jonas about a child being released by his father, which disturbed Jonas as he had been taught that release was a positive thing but the dream implied something darker. The dream foreshadowed Jonas's realization about the true meaning of release in the community.

The old Receiver felt a sense of relief and lightness after transmitting a memory to Jonas. It was a cathartic experience for him, as memories carry a heavy burden and sharing them with Jonas allowed for some emotional release.
The Giver is actually concerned about Jonas and the community. Since if Jonas drowns in the river, he will die, which will mean that the memories that Jonas has from The Giver will be released to the whole community and they will have to go through the same thing as the last time when Rosemary's memories were released to the community. The memories cause people in the community pain.
It is not known for Jonas to love Fiona in the end of the book.though it does mention that he loves Fiona and Asher and the giver the text does not specify if he still is in love with Fiona or not.
In The book the giver they think being released is a good thing. They actually make it a celebration. But actually that means they are going to be put to death. So the utopian society is actually liying to them but they dont know that of course.
