Tragically kids have killed each other, parents, etc. this usually takes the form of gunshot violence- and once the trigger is pulled ( it is too late! the bullet shot forth on its destined track) There are a variety of legal responses. If the child is under 7 it is assumed he or she has not reached the age of reason and is not responsible, wholly or in part, for his actions- however lethal- it is thus considered to be an accident. Older than seven it is considered Juvenile Delinquency and the child may be commited to a juvenile prison, reformatory or what is popularly and euphemistically called ( the Youth House) Youth House sounds benign, even fun- like a club or a camp, it is not! this horrible tragedy DOES happen and often involves firearms, there are no second chances with a clip full in an automatic pistol- blam blam blam- is usually fatal. Gun-related (accidents) involving minors, fatal ones occur about 360 types a year, almost once a day, it is sickening.
I have been reliably advised that the purpose of this site is to present factual information rather than opinions, although I have found that sometimes I find it necessary to offer an opinion anyway. The question of whether juveniles should be executed, or indeed whether anybody should be executed remains hotly debated, and has no definitive answer. I personally am aware of many legitimate arguments that can be raised both for and against capital punishment in general. Of the people who support capital punishment, some would not wish to have it applied to juveniles, but only to adults, while others would say that any sufficiently serious crime merits a death sentence, no matter who committed that crime and no matter what age the criminal was at the time the crime was committed. My personal inclination would be to use capital punishment very rarely in the case of juveniles, but not to rule it out absolutely. There could be a crime so terrible that it must be punished by death, no matter how young the perpetrator. But that's just an opinion.
The Supreme Court has held that sentencing juveniles to life in prison or any other crime than murder was cruel and unusual punishment. Consequently all juveniles who fit this category are being or have been resentenced.
Crimes are the act of doing something that is not accepted by society. There are consequences for crimes--punishment. Punishments are the things you receive in response to commiting a crime. Example: Murdering is a crime. The punishment for this would be a death sentence or life in prison.
whatever that they want Added: Juveniles are capable of committing any crime that an adult can. There are no "special" juvenile offenses.
no, however they would still be given an alternative punishment for the crimes committed while underage
The same as if you were arrested for any crime. You would be tried to determine if you broke the law, and if you did, what the proper punishment would be. "Gun charges" is a very vague term- punishment would depend on the crime.
No, but it would be a suitable punishment for such a crime.
Death
intentional act against legal parameters is crime. punishment do not define crime.
the positives on capital punishment; this type of punishment could reduce crime, the other side it promote crime as people would kill the witness, in order to erase information about the case
The Esperanto words for crime and punishment are krimo and puno.
Of course. The punishment for a crime needs to stop people from committing the crime. If the charge for stealing a multi-thousand dollar crime was just a $200 fine, no potential criminal would think twice about it.
