Why are things breaking up in lord of the flies?

The boys society is breaking up because Jack feels that Ralph is not a good leader. Jack says that Ralph just gives orders but he would never get up meat. And Ralph blames Jack for many things like not making fire, shelter and stuff causing jack to hate Ralph. So Since jack feels Ralph is bad leader, he votes for a new leader but others don't agree with him. So Jack says hes gonna make his own tribe and his hunters go with him, and so do a few others because they are scared of jack since hes scary and violent.

So basicaly jack doesnt feel like Ralph is a good leader so he makes a new tribe and people join jack because they don't wana be against him since hes so violent.

There was one main reason that the relationships and the structure of the boys' society broke down on the island and that reason was called Jack. Right from the very first meeting Jack made it clear that he wanted to be leader. Even thoughRalph gave Jack the consolation prize of being in charge of the former choir, when Ralph won the election, that wasn't sufficient to satisfy Jack's lust for power. For the rest of the story Jack continually tried to undermine and challenge Ralph's leadership, the rules, the society and virtually everything else. He managed to coax, persuade and threaten virtually all of the boys to join his tribe and even that wasn't enough to satisfy him. He wanted Ralph dead to ensure that he could never lay claim to being the rightful leader in future. Even if he had succeeded in killing Ralph it is doubtful if Jack's destructive nature would have been satisfied. As pigs were hunted and their numbers reduced the hunting of littluns seemed a likely development. Likewise the torture and killing of any biguns who Jack felt were any threat to his position, or indeed any boy who Jack simply took a dislike to or felt the urge to kill or hurt purely on impulse.
